Dutch people spend a half billion on smart security
More than half a million Dutch households now use a smart doorbell. The share has doubled to 6 percent since 2018. Almost half are from the Ring brand. This is evident from the fourth Smart Home Monitor from Multiscope among 6,300 Dutch people.
The Dutch households are becoming increasingly safer, the research agency notes. At present, 18 percent of all households are in possession of smart security equipment. In 2018 this was still 15 percent. One in ten households has a security camera. This keeps this the most popular device. Smart security will continue to grow in the future too. One in five consumers intends to purchase smart security within a year.
Dutch people invest 550 million euros
Consumers have already spent half a billion in smart security and security. Compared to 2018, this is a clear growth of 38 percent. Most of the money is spent on smart security systems (227 million euros) and smart security cameras (183 million euros). Compared to 2018, the turnover of smart doorbells has doubled to a total of 64 million euros.
Growth potential for smart security
The Dutch consumer will purchase 350 million euros in smart security in the coming year. Added to the current possession, this amounts to a potential market value of 900 million euros. Consumers have the most for a smart security system. On average, they want to spend 267 euros on a system. This amounts to almost 100 million euros for the whole of the Netherlands.
